reflection on progress 2
For my previous 'reflection on progress' blog, these were my targets:
Three things to improve:
Three things to improve:
- Don't get too engaged to your practical that you forget to blog or blog extra.
- Be more detailed
- Do extra research and blog about it
Looking at my three targets, i have convinced myself that i have managed to meet all three. As opposed to where i was before, i am blogging a lot more frequently with great detail. I would currently give myself a mark of 16/20.
Two More Things To Improve:
- use more technology
- do more individual blogs

Planning: Feedback from pitch
From the feedback we received from our teacher as well as our class peers I found that they all agreed in the fact that our concept/narrative was all very detailed and clear which made it easier for them to understand our whole pitch.
Improvements to make before we go out filming:
- However, our teacher and peers did have a point in where we could improve which was the name of the artist not fitting with the genre we were going to do.
- Luisio - according to the feedback sounded to Latin American so we have to come up with an alternative and we are deciding whether to change it to Luke plus a second name.
- They all said that our storyboard needed more detail also it needed to be more clear as to what every shot was going to contain such as effect, shot, camera movement and mise en scene.
- As a group we also have to update our schedule plan as we named locations which in fact we won't be using also putting our schedule plan onto timetoast.

Planning- "guitar lesson"
During the pitch feedback, i was asked if i knew how to play the guitar and told that its quite difficult to play it and singing while making it look realistic. For that reason i watched tutorial clips on how to play this particular song 'lego house' and i feel I've learned a few helpful bits from it.

Planning: pitch feedback
From the pitch we got great feedback from the class. Both positive and negative.
Strengths:
- the narrative of our music video.
- The locations being used was said to be well thought of.
- Our artist 3 outfits. The class agreed that this is what you will see from the typical acoustic pop artist.
- the narrative of our music video.

Weaknesses\ even better if:
- We should change the name of our artist as it did not match the sort of artist we was trying to portray
- Cautions of filming in a grave yard, quite sensitive.

From this feedback we have made a few changes...
We have now changed the artist name.
We asked for permission to film in the grave yard before doing it.

Planning: 3 music videos that influenced final song choice
The number reason we chose to go with Lego house, is because of the music video. As a group, we decided that we wanted to choose a song that is quite slow and heart felt and one that we can easily think about how we're going to film. We felt that this video's narrative was the opposite of how we would have done. For this reason, the original video was a major influence for us.
The narrative of this music video is that Olly Murs is reminiscing on the memories of himself and his ex girlfriend and seems to be seeing her everywhere he goes on the wrong faces. Id like our group to do something similar to this to bring out a more emotional side to our final video.
This video influenced my decision personally due to the style and location. I would like to have that tracking shot base track as it clearly looks effective. For my video, i would like to dress in a similar way; wearing a plain top in a similar surrounding.
Blogging health check 1 feedback and response.
As we are currently in the editing process of our music video, I received feedback about the progress of my blog:
"35 blog posts at health check 1: Hello Hadi. I've had a good look through your blog. I am really pleased with your videos that you've recently posted about how the filming went - great use of your blog and gives me a really clear idea of what you've managed to do, what went well and what needs to be completed. I'm glad you've taken the initiative and completed these. What I do need to see, which isn't there yet, is reflection on how the pitch went. What feedback did you get from the class (and me) and what are you going to do in response to this. There is a mark on the mark scheme for 'revisions in light of feedback' and so I need to see some evidence on the blog in order for this mark to be 'upped' from the C- it is at the moment. If we look back at the early blog posts - you have some good research (and some still missing: nothing on Mulvey, favourite previous student video, individual homework on setting and costume or synergy - all must be done) and you have some good planning (but again - some still missing - analysis of Ed Sheeran's original video, website and ancillary products; 3 music videos that have influenced your final style ideas for the video). Make sure that you catch up with these as it would be shame for you to not get a higher mark - I can see that you are putting in a real effort which is great to see. Remember that the moderator can't see what you do in class or in your group - they have to go by what they can see on the blog and that alone, so make sure that the blog reflects all your hard work. Good luck!"
In light of the feedback i have done a lot more blogging. I am currently catching up on all the blogs i have missed out on in the research and planning stages. I found this feedback very useful as i now know what i need to do in order to achieve higher marks.

Planning: Ed Sheeran vs Luisio
In this blog, i will discuss how the original music video 'lego house' by Ed Sheeran will differ from our music video.
In a nutshell, The Ed Sheeran version is a video which the story plot is a big fan who obsessively stalks Ed Sheeran and being thrown out or dismissed each time.
Our music video will differ greatly; mainly because of the story line. We've decided that ours will be about the artist (Lusio) looking back at his time with his girlfriend. We are going to make this seem like the present so the audience will be in for a surprise when they discover that she was a girl of his past.

Planning: Pitch - Evaluation
There are many ways of creating answers for our evaluations using ict.
some of the ways are:
using different ict skills in media helps make our answers more enjoyable.
some of the ways are:
Planning: Pitch - Social Media Solange Moposita
Planning: Pitch - Risk Assessment - Tarjae Greene
Risk Assessment
Filming always comes with many risks involved. So it is good that we ensure that we know what the risks are and how to prevent them.
Filming always comes with many risks involved. So it is good that we ensure that we know what the risks are and how to prevent them.
- Water Damage - could damage equipment - avoid going near or using liquid near equipment and making sure that the equipment is tightly closed as well as away from areas that are wet.
- Tripping - could cause accident - ensure all equipment is put away properly, look when filming.
- Camera battery dying - could lose footage -bring spare batteries all the time.
- Bad weather - prevents/ delays filming - check weather forecast before hand so we could be prepared for what the day brings.
- Vulnerability - we could get robbed - as were young teens people could see us as easy targets.
It is important that we use equipment safely and are aware of our surroundings at all times also that we all take turns of being in charge of the equipment.
Planning: Pitch - Storyboard Jamilla Henderson
Storyboard we will follow when filming. It includes base tracks and storyline shots, and minor effects we will add. When filming is complete we will discuss further which special effects we will add whilst editing.
Planning: Pitch - Theory- Hadi Lounici
Narrative Structure
Andrew Goodwin's theory states that the artist tends to me the performer and the narrator. Our music video will comply with this as I (Luisio) will be the one performing and narrating alongside the girl.
Also, we will have shots where Luisio looks directly at the camera. This will appeal to the audience as they will feel directly addressed and feel a part of the narrative experience.
Repetition In Videos
We will use a few repeated shots which follows Andrew Goodwin's theory also.
Recognisable Feature
We've decided that the guitar will be the object which the fans will recognise the artist by. This guital will be in the album cover

Planning: Pitch - Industry Solange Moposita
I've decided that our artist would be signed to Columbia Record. We think this one of those label records that have famous and well-known artists where we could also be led into that path. This record label represents artists such as Beyonce, Calvin Harris, T.I, The Script and Pharrell Williams. As our artist would be signed to Columbia Record it's signed to a major label. The reason I chose to a major label was because as an artist and in order to succeed in this industry you need quite a lot of exposure as well as money. With a major label money is always available for studio booking time, touring and filming music videos as well as other opportunities. We could also get a lot more opportunities as major labels have been in the business for decades and have long established connections that could help us reach our music career goals.
Although, there are many negatives sides to a major label we thought that it would be best for our artist as he could excel with his music.

Planning: Pitch - Post Production -Hadi Lounici
As a group we looked at post production techniques and so far we have come up with the following:
Time laps: This is a great effect to use as it speeds up time showing repetitiveness. This has been used by Ed Sheeran- A-team.
Slow Motion: This effect symbolises an important moment. It will be very useful when we come to film ours as we have a few significant shots we'd like to show. This has been used by Passenger- Heart on fire.
Disappearance: Using this technique will show a loss of soul/life. useful for what we are planning; where there girl disappears from shots because she isn't actually alive.

Planing: Pitch Green Screen - Jamilla Henderson
We decided to use a green screen for one of our base tracks.
We had an idea to create a PowerPoint presentation of just images of Hadi in many situations. This could be with a girl (ex girlfriend) him with friends in college ect, but more focusing on him and he's ex girlfriend. The room will be dark and Hadi will be wearing all black. So in the background we will project the images onto the green screen so it will seem like a flashback as he sings the lyrics. We believe it will have a big impact onto the music video, as also it will help the viewers to understand our storyline further.
We would potentially do a few shots so we have a Varity to chose from. When filming we would do a medium shot of the whole song. Then a close up, then over the shoulder. So we can see which looks the best.

This song uses a green screen throughout the song it doesn't have many shots without it. It goes well with the song and makes it easier for the artist to portray what he's trying to say.

Even thou this isnt a very good/ clear drawing. It incorporates what we will add in the real thing. This is what you would call a rough copy...
If you can see its a tree with lusio sitting on a branch playing his guitar!

Planning: Pitch - Synergy - Tarjae Greene
Synergy
As a group we had many ideas as to what we think our key visual element should be.
Some of them were:
We wanted to add an acoustic guitar as the songs featured on the album all have it as the main instrument. It is also a typical item you would see with a pop male artist. This guitar could be co-orperated within each music video.
Another idea we had was to have a black and white themed album cover. The black and white can be part of the editing special effect our video. we came up with this idea as it is easy to convey. it could relate to our audience as it is neutral colours which means it is for every.
We decided as a group to combined both ideas together.
these are some of the album covers that gave us the idea.
We then thought our audience are young and vibrant and having black and white does not really portray that. so we decided to add drops off colour so that it stands out near the black and white.
Here are some examples:
We thought that we would have our guitar for the colour drop and the rest of the album.

Planning: Pitch - Costume Solange Moposita
In terms of costumes we have decided that he will be changing his costume 3 times.
Costume 1 - This will be a grey full tracksuit and he will be wearing trainers.
Costume 2 - A blue checkered shirt with a white shirt underneath, blue jeans and trainers.
Costume 3 - A white shirt with black jeans and trainers, as shown below.
The choice of costume came from various music videos that influenced our final decision for the costumes. For example:
Labrinth - Let It Be
Calvin Harris - Blame Ft. John Newman

The costume for this artist is yet again a simple black shirt and jeans but still has an effect by standing out. |
Calvin Harris - Blame Ft. John Newman
Overall, we thought that the use of the colours black and white would stand out no matter what the background making it more easier for us to actually meet the expectations of our target audience. This is because our artist, Luisio, will be wearing simple clothes but trendy as nowadays our target audience tend to wear the style of black jeans and shirt or white shirt and black jeans a mix combination. But white and black are those main colours that will be used. The use of the blue checkered shirt was to add something different but still trendy as the artists mentioned above tend to wear shirts and what not.
Planning: Pitch - Setting and Location -Hadi Lounici
Our filming locations are as follows:
Park-
Clissold park, Stoke Newington. This will be for the beginning of the video to introduce the singer. We will go back and fourth to this location.
House-
The house will also be in Stoke Newington. We will be filming in a room. This will also be at the beginning of the song.
City Location-
Picadilly Circus. This will be a relevant place to film and perfect for time laps as there are many cars. This will be introduced in the middle of the song after the first chorus.
Graveyard-
Stoke Newington cemetery. This will be acknowledged at the end of the song. we will be in a graveyard filming on a bench without revealing the location until the end to take audience by surprise.
